Gerry Smallegange Appointed President and CEO of Burlington Hydro Electric Inc.

Burlington, Ontario – Gerry Smallegange has been named President and CEO of Burlington Hydro Electric Inc. effective September 21, 2009.

The Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Engineering and Operations at BHEI since 2004, Smallegange was selected after an extensive executive search and interview process.

“Gerry Smallegange has played a key role in Burlington Hydro success in many important aspects of the operation, such as reliability and grid modernization,” says Gary D. Graham, Chair, Board of Directors, Burlington Hydro Electric Inc.

Building on his demonstrated leadership in Burlington Hydro’s award winning distribution automation, Smallegange will lead all aspects of the utility’s dynamic GridSmartCity™ initiative.

Launched last May in the context of dynamic industry change as a result of the Green Energy Act, GridSmartCity™ has brought international attention to renewable energy in the Region of Halton.

Prior to BHEI, Gerry held positions in engineering and operations for another Halton LDC and in the engineering consulting sector. He is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, a registered professional engineer in the province of Ontario, and holds a Masters of Business Administration degree.

Using an executive search firm, both internal and external candidates were considered in the national search.
